The artist directed the Luther College International Abroad program on the island of Malta for one semester in 1997. This watercolor depicts an ancient harbor in Malta and the fishing boats (or Luzzus) painted in all hues of the rainbow. Note the eyes (dating back to Egyptian influences) painted on the prow of the boats. These are the ancient eyes of Osiris and currently the eyes of god, placed there to protect
